Performance Testing via Simulation by Goh Chun Lin
Traditional performance testing often feels like a brute-force attack: We spin up expensive infrastructure, write complex load scripts (k6/JMeter), and hammer the system until it breaks. This process is reactive, costly, and frequently happens too late. In this lightning talk, I will demonstrate a radical approach to shift-left testing using Discrete Event Simulation. Instead of testing software against hardware, we simulate the physics of the infrastructure itself. I will walk through a case study involving Amazon RDS T3 throttling, showing how we can predict the system breaking point without sending a single HTTP request.
