Using Mutation Testing to Expose Your Tests' Hidden Weaknesses by Mesut Durukal
I have been in several projects where we had high test coverage yet still suffered from flaky tests and missed defects. In this talk, I introduce mutation testing as a practical way to assess how effective your tests truly are—by deliberately breaking your code and checking whether your tests catch the damage. This talk challenges the underlying assumption that test suites are trustworthy simply because they are large or have high coverage. Instead, it provides a concrete, evidence-based technique to measure the actual effectiveness of tests.
